Shimmer in the Moonlight…

29 07 2009

Not sure that’s the best post title but my mind seems to be drawing a blank at the moment!

So, what do I have to show today?  Two newish (i.e., new to the website but created a couple months ago) bracelets that couldn’t be more different.  Ok, well, maybe they could, but they’re pretty disparate!

Let’s start with some hand-hammered silver leaves and labradorite.

The labradorites are small but, boy, they’ve got flash.  Mmmmm!  I love labradorite.  I’m also particularly happy with my little hole-lining tube rivets and my happily-whanged handmade toggle.

Alrighty, looking in the direction of more stone, less metal, may I present Moonlit Sand?

I love the toggle on this.  I can’t claim credit for it – I don’t have the skills or the equipment to shape shell like that – but it’s perfect for the feel of the bracelet, don’t you think?

Hope you’re all well!  If anyone’s looking to do a jewelry party later this fall, I’m booking for mid-October (i.e., after the baby) and beyond!  It’s a great way to get yourself a pretty cool discount on some pretty cool jewelry and, unlike the mainstream jewelry parties, I won’t guilt your friends into hosting parties.  Just think about it, ‘kay?

Cheers all!

Black, White, Cha Cha Cha

13 09 2008

I don’t typically make cha chas, not full ones at any rate; there’s just only so many wrapped loops one person can do without have (a) your fingers fall off or (b) go stark raving mad from the tedium. Sometimes, though, you just like to have something a bit repetitive to do. I got these cool beads in a while back – they may look familiar to Rainbow Giants readers!  She’s got some work with similar ones! – and felt they just scream to be cha-cha-ed.  So I did.  Damn the tedium, full speed ahead!

Laminated resin cubes and rounds in black and white bring the clean modern energy of the city to the sterling silver cha cha bracelet.

One Thing Leads to Another

9 08 2008

In this case, Swirl into Autumn spawned a bangle idea. What if, instead of 2 swirls there were a whole bunch? And what if it was a bracelet? Ooh, not just a bracelet, a bangle… the kind of bangle you can wear over a turtleneck sweater sleeve… perfect for fall?

Well, this is what you wind up with! More hammered copper, sterling silver, and tourmalines… this time in a bangle bracelet. Cheers!

Now, I’m off to learn more about my dremel… Until next time, check out a bunch of my other fall jewelry at my website!

Ciao!

Catch A Wave

25 03 2008

Hi everyone!

I’ve got a new one to show off…

As I was making the earrings in the last post, I got curious – what would happen if I wove thin wire around pieces of thicker wire?  Well, I got my answer – and I’m pretty pleased with it! It’s amazingly light and very comfortable and has about a gazillion feet of 28 ga wire in it. (That darned 28 ga wire sliced a decent sized cut in my index finger from pulling it tight – yow!)

I find it really fascinating how creating one thing so often leads to the next – the never-ending search for “what if?” Probably makes me a bit weird but oh well!

Until next time, cheers and a belated happy Easter from me and mine!
